Heather and Michael were married at the picturesque Kiawah Island Resort in South Carolina in a beautiful Lowcountry affair photographed by Damon R. Smith Photography and planned by the amazing team at Engaging Events. The event was designed in a palette based on pretty sky blue accented by a range of natural tones and textures, from sand and seashells to sawgrass and bamboo. Heather wore a simple strapless gown with a gently ruched bodice and an easy A-line silhouette. She carried a lovely bouquet of white flowers, including garden roses, sweet peas and baby's breath, while Michael wore a khaki summer suit and powder blue tie. The ceremony was held on The Ocean Course at the resort with expansive views of the ocean. White garden chairs lined the aisle, decorated with sky blue chair ties and hung with blue hydrangea tied with chocolate satin ribbon. The ceremony centerpiece was a canopy made of bamboo poles with breezy white fabric draped over the top and down the sides. Large arrangements of wheat and sawgrass were situated at either side, framing Heather and Michael's exchange of vows.
Engaging Events designed the reception space drawing inspiration from the seaside setting. Outdoor tables were covered in soft sky blue satin linens and paired with chocolate chivari barstools or rattan armchairs, while centerpieces were made of glass hurricanes filled with sand, shells and tall pillar candles. Indoor guest tables were set with ivory linens and runners in pale blue. A variety of centerpieces ranged from low arrangements of hydrangea to tall cylindrical vases filled with sand, curly willow branches and white dendrobium orchids. Votives and pillar candles were scattered throughout the event on guest and accent tables for romantic soft lighting. The three tier white wedding cake made by Elaine's Events was decorated with small blooms of blue hydrangea and guests took home sweet blue favor boxes wrapped in chocolate ribbon tied off with a sand dollar.
