Favorite Photo Friday #4- Fun Photo-op!

Today's favorite photo was found on Erin Hearts Court. I just adore fun shots like this! Love the brides shoes too (so much so that I needed a second shot of them! Love the Chucks too of course.) Click the link to see the rest of this gorgeous wedding.

Inspiration #29- Borrowing colors from Fall...

Orange and chocolate brown are a very popular color combo for fall weddings, but I think they can work in the spring/summer too! Just use a pop of sky blue and dress the men in tan suits to brighten them up!

    Teal Stealer...
Emilie, you're such a copycat – I'm sure you must have sneaked a peak at my Polyvore set! Mind you, I WAS totally in love with it until I realised the dress was actually from the J Crew Crewcuts children's selection. Never mind - I still love it! Visit Polyvore and see what incarnation in teal you can come up with!

    All Work and No Play…
One of the real weddings recently submitted to us included the most delightful stationery. It was designed by Naomi Murrell and we are all in love with it (sorry, I can't share it with you until it's printed in the magazine!).

Naomi and seven other designers/artists are holding an exhibition at Urban Cow Studio in Adelaide, opening on June 3rd at 6pm. If the examples on their blog are anything to go by, it promises to reveal some truly inspiring work.

One of the other artists, Elisa Mazzone was one of my students at Uni SA when I lectured there in Graphic Design. She was a very talented member of my class so I am looking forward to seeing what she has produced in recent times.

As an aside, and is always the way in Adelaide, everyone knows everyone and Elisa is actually part of Mazzone Jewellers - we featured one of their stunning rings in Issue 10 - it is breathtaking I'm sure you will agree.

Do try and make the exhibition opening if you can and support a group of fabulously talented women.

    Rock Princess
I'm loving the new fragrance by the Queen of bridal, Vera Wang, called Rock Princess. It's a little bit more spunky than her fragrance Bouquet and well suited to those girls who like a little bit of edge! It'll be available from 1 June 2009 from Myer, David Jones or call 1800 812 663 alternate stockists. Priced at $90 for 50ml.

    Pallas Hearts Melbourne
Renowned for their exquisite dresses that sculpt, caress and flatter the body like no other, Pallas Bride and Fashion is expanding and opening a studio in Melbourne at the end of May to the delight of many brides. Inspired by the overwhelming success in their home-based Perth salon and their second home in Sydney’s Paddington, Pallas has been holding trunk shows in Melbourne for the past two and a half years. With an unprecedented and growing demand for their exquisite gowns by Victorian brides during this time (many even going so far as to fly to Sydney for further appointments) they have decided to open the new boutique. The new studio, located in the fashion hub of South Yarra is within the Lyall Residences in Murphy Street. This allows Pallas to offer their gowns and creative expertise to the most discerning Victorian brides - perfect for those wanting something truly breathtaking on their special day. Inspiration #28- The grass is always greener...

I love the look of wheatgrass for centerpieces or trays of wheatgrass to hold place cards. That's where I drew my inspiration for this board. Eco-friendly weddings are gaining in popularity and one of my favorite ideas for a wedding favor is a plantable one (seeds, a sapling or a potted succulent or flower.) What do you think?

Theme Thursday #4- Yummy Alternatives

Not a cake person? Try out some of these alternatives! Milk and cookies, Hostess (or other favorite dessert) wedding "cake," Rice Krispy mini cakes, mini (or full size!) pies and cheesecake, chocolate fondue, ice cream sundae buffet, fancy chocolate covered fruit and parfaits all make great replacements for a traditional cake.

    Terrific Teal
Teal is one of those colours that's either hit or miss. It's a hard colour to get right. So often it looks tacky and rather hideous. The trick with teal is to incorporate softer colours, such as white and gold, rather than having a sea of teal on its own. If you get it wrong you run the risk your wedding will look like a Port Power convention. Seriously, not even a Port supporter would want this! Take a leaf out of my book and pick a few key pieces you'd like in teal and then incorporate the softer colours. If done right the look will be sheer sophistication. I LOVE a gorgeous pair of gold heels with a teal dress. Just gorgeous! Also, if you're thinking of having a lolly bar why not incorporate teal custom made M&M's (for all those of you lucky enough to reside in the USA). Delicious! Click on the Polyvore to view the pieces in more detail.

Alternative Wednesdays #1- Bridesmaids Dresses

Another new weekly feature! While working on my themed board for tomorrow, I decided that I really like the idea of incorporating alternatives to "normal" wedding decor, dresses, etc. So every Wednesday there will be a post on some alternatives to different wedding elements.
The first post will focus on bridesmaids dresses not found at bridal shops, they are usually more affordable (yay!) and there is more variety when it comes to sizes. Here are some I love:

Inspiration #27- Make it Pop!

This was another requested board, I really like this color combo though. Blue and fuchsia really pop together! The bride mentioned that the men will be wearing white tuxes as well. Table decor and boutonniere images were found on The Wedding Chicks (check out the link for the rest of the blue and fuchsia wedding they came from!)

Inspiration #26- Purple Tulips

I received a request for a purple and white board. The bride wants to incorporate tulips into her outside reception. She also plans to wear a short white dress that's not necessarily a wedding dress. The dress used in this board is from White House Black Market. What do you think of what I came up with?

Tuesday Engagement Inspiration #3

Inspiration #25- Love grows here...

This inspiration board was inspired by an idea I had for giving potted flowers as favors for my sisters bridal shower. I thought terracotta and slate blue would make an excellent color combo, especially for an outdoor wedding!

    Vintage Rules
If you're like me a love finding a bargain in a vintage shop then you'll be thrilled to hear that one of the Queen's of Australian fashion, Leona Edmiston, is launching a new consignment program in her vintage boutiques. This neat concept offers customers the opportunity to turn unwanted past season frocks into Leona Edmiston vouchers and give their wardrobe a revamp without spending a cent! Inspiration #24- Birds of a feather...

I got a request for a board that incorporated peacock feathers and cobalt blue with cream roses.  This is what I came up with, hope you enjoy it!

Inspiration #23- Champagne Wishes, Pale Pink Dreams

If I wanted a really fancy wedding dress I'd want it to look like the champagne colored one in this board, made by La Sposa. This board is pure elegance! I think the pale pink really brightens up the champagne and mocha color scheme.

    More birthday pics
I was looking at the photos from my party and realised I forgot to upload these pics of the stationery I used. They are from super cute poppies for grace who also have a really sweet wedding invitation range. I put some chocolate choc chip cookies (from Nigella) in the goodie bags for the guests to take home.

Favorite Photo Friday #3- Beach Picnic!

This wedding looks like it was so much fun!  You should really check it out, you can find it on Jonathan Canlas' blog.
This is my favorite photo though:

Inspiration #22- Sunshine and Apples

This board was inspired by the apple and yellow rose cake I found on Bridal Guide. I love the idea of small apples as place cards, they also make nice centerpieces too! You could even have appletinis as your signature drink. The color palette for this one is gray, apple green and yellow.

Theme Thursday #3- Under the Tuscan Sun

Today's themed board is an Italian countryside wedding. I think this theme can be translated as elegant (fancy italian food, lots of gold details) or a little bit more fun (like having gourmet pizza for the meal!). Fancy or locally made olive oil would make a great favor too!The color scheme is red, olive green and gold.

Inspiration #21- The best thing to hold onto in life is each other

How about an Audrey Hepburn quote? This inspiration board is all about vintage Hollywood glamour. The colors are pretty simple but I think details are more important to really pull off an old Hollywood style wedding. I love the idea of using old movie stills or movie stars as table numbers. Of course renting a vintage car and having your reception in an old movie theater are gorgeous touches as well. The bouquet photo is from Jennifer Creed.

Inspiration #20- Coral Reef

As you've probably figured out by now I am really into bright color combos. Today's inspiration comes from the Great Barrier Reef. The colors are bold blue, coral and bright pink.. what do you think?

    Lets get personal
I admit it, I have this weird obsession with coasters! I am not sure why - the girls in the office always make fun of me as every shoot we do I am always trying to get them in. I don't usually succeed, I think they have only made their way in once (see Issue 3). Anyway, I noticed these gorgeous personalised ones from Prior Engagement where you can get matching water bottle labels as well! There are lots of colours and styles to choose from, its such a great way to add that extra bit of detail to your wedding.
