DIY Heart Invitations

These DIY origami invitations that Amy from the blog Eat Drink Chic sent out for her engagement party are amazing - the amount of time she must have spent on these certainly show her dedication to having the most perfect and unique invitations. Amy said that the most time consuming part of the process was hand stitching the translucent paper pockets. Well done Amy for thinking outside the square and creating something very personal - we can't wait to see your wedding invitations!

Check out Amy's blog to download a template to make these origami hearts.

Favorite Photo Friday #13- Something Beachy

New Jersey is covered in snow, again. It's getting to be a bit much so I thought I'd share something beachy to cheer me (and anyone else that's sick of snow) up! And check out the fun outfits the groom and his groomsmen wore!

Real Wedding ~ Brianna and Tony

We can't get enough of Brianna and Tony's spring wedding at the Clifton Inn in Charlottesville, VA, photographed by the always amazing Joy Marie Photography. Brianna accessorized her gown with a pair of bold violet heels that set the tone for an event palette of violet and cream with accents of green. The bridesmaids wore vintage-look cream lace party dresses and carried soft white bouquets with green collars created by Pat's Floral Designs. We especially love the gorgeous place cards set on deep purple fabric and the dramatic tall centerpiece arrangements on wrought iron trees made with violet and bright green orchids. Guests danced the night away and made fun pictures in an old-school photo booth until Brianna and Tony ended the reception with a leap into the Inn's sparkling pool! Especially for Me

I am very spoiled - people send me the most beautiful things. This little parcel arrived earlier in the week from Viola at Chewing the Cud. She must know me well as brown paper packages tied up with string are easily my favourite things! I can't go past kraft paper for a down-to-earth utilitarianism - it matches everything - and red & white striped twine adds a really special touch.

The little notebook has a quote on the front cover from Confucious - 'Wherever you go, go with all your heart'. What a lovely sentiment - this would make a great favour for guests at a wedding.

For more beautiful stationery inspiration do check their website as there are many more products to admire.

    Thank you Viola.

Wedding Fashion Inspiration: Marchesa

I looked at some of the beautiful dresses worn on the red carpet at Sunday's Bafta awards in London, one of which was the stunning Marchesa gown worn by Vera Farmiga.

The Marchesa label though based in New York is by British born designers Georgina & Keren; with backgrounds in costume design and embroidery & textile design their elegant dresses inspired by vintage and Asian influences are well known in the USA, especially for their beautiful red carpet dresses.

Their bridal range is to available in the UK exclusively at Browns Brides and being launched with a trunk show March 12th & 13th.

Here are some of their Bridal designs from the Spring 2010 catwalks.

... I'll look forward to seeing the range in the store.

Happy Birthday My Love!

To my love and partner in crime - Happy Birthday - I am so hugely blessed to have you in my life.  I thought this was the perfect Happy Birthday image - a street sign at a crossroads.  Today you turn the big 3-0!  I remember I wasn't excited about turning 30 even one little bit.  I felt it was the end of my youth but little did I know what was in store for me.  This year will bring with it new beginnings and adventures and now that I'm past the 30 mark I can tell you that the best really is yet to come.  Starting today!

By now the surprise is out of the bag - he and I are in the car driving to the airport bound for Salt Lake City, Utah for a long weekend of snowboarding and shenanigans in Park City!  I've been dying with this secret for so many weeks.  We decided no spending unnecessary money on travel or trips between now and the wedding so we've both been jonsing for a quick weekend getaway (but I made the trip VERY economical).  And with all the Olympic coverage and Winter X Games we've been watching he's been all upset that we weren't going to get to go snowboarding this year.  Ha, ha...I think I pulled it off.  Little does he know however that when we get to Utah we'll be greeted by 7 of his closest friends, brothers, cousins for an unforgettable weekend! (I'll just have to keep him away from a computer before tomorrow)

I'll leave you with some of my favorite snowy and boarding brides!

    See you next week!

Raspberry

Are you looking for really cool, kind of rock 'n' roll wedding invitations? We love these designs by Raspberry inspired by music and concert posters. The use of unique fonts and distressing techniques give them a hip, edgy feel with a little bit of a retro vibe thrown in. Designs are customized to your event (duh) and are available in an array of colors and styles. If it's true that invitations and save-the-dates give guests the first impression of your wedding day, we'd be the first to rsvp to one of these.

Visit the Raspberry etsy shop to see all the designs available and to contact them for your own custom inviations and wedding papers.
