Glitter in my Eyes

So, I have this dress that I've purchased for one of my Christmas parties and I am having shoe issues. I've searched high and low, scouring the shelves of every shop, department store and online boutique and I can't find anything. How is this possible? I know I'm beyond fussy but it's getting ridiculous! Then, like a flash of shiny light, I spotted these beauties. Of course they're on my favourite online store Net-a-Porter (UK based) and of course they're Christian Louboutin and of course they're simply gorgeous. Of course they have a rather hefty price tag, but after all it's Christmas, and I'm hoping Santa makes a quick delivery of these to David Jones. In one of my moments I could easily be pursuaded!

Inspiration Board: Viva Las Vegas

I'm off to Las Vegas for the next six days for work - wish me luck - not that I'll score at the casino (although that would be nice) but that I'll make it that long.  After about 24 hours in Vegas I'm ready to get out of there...too much for me.  But, after Vegas it's off to Hood River for a visit with potential vendors for the wedding and to check out our venue the Gorge Crest...can't wait!

One thing about Vegas that might offer some inspiration are the decorations at the casinos.  I remember being out there in December a few years back and walking into to giant white Christmas themed entryway at the Bellagio decorated by Martha Stewart.  If Vegas is your thing here is a cute Vegas-inspired inspiration board found on Snippet and Ink.

Cute glittery shoes - I could use those this week for a few parties I have to attend.

Personal and Meaningful Vows: Sarah and Greg (Part 1)

I really believe in writing your own vows vs using pre-written vows that hundreds of other couples have used.  Make it personal and from the heart.  I'm sure it won't be easy when we eventually sit down and have to put pen to paper to write out our own vows but then again how hard can it be - there are plenty of reasons why you love and are marrying that person (at least I would hope) so just put it down on paper, right?  I'm sure I may use songs, verses, readings for inspiration but think the vows can be short, simple and meaningful without having to sound like a natural poet.

Our friends Sarah and Greg  had a very sweet intimate ceremony and wrote their own vows that were heartfelt and made people laugh and cry.  Sarah was nice enough to let me share them on the blog.

    Together:    I love…

S: The way you make me laugh, especially at myself.
G: That you think the funniest jokes are the ones about you.
S: That you always let me have the best bite of whatever you are eating.
G: That your favorite food is whatever anyone else is eating.
S: That you became a Bills fan.
G: That you fall asleep ¾ of the way through every movie.
S: Your compassion & genuine interest in people.
G: That you squeeze every second out of everyday.

Together:  I love that today I marry my best friend.

    Together:    I promise…

G: To support you in whatever you choose to do.
S: To start each day fresh
G: To make time to snuggle.
S: To let you sleep in once awhile
G: To try to focus on the details.
S: To be patient & see your point of view.
G: To continue to make our relationship the top priority.
S: To sing & dance with you & always live out loud.

G:  I promise to love you with all my heart.
S:  I promise to love you with all my heart.

Together:  And if you break any of these promises, I promise to forgive you and move forward with our life together.

I love this simple but very personal "I love you..." and I promise..." format.  I've seen similar examples on other blogs like 2000 Dollar Wedding - she actually has several real wedding vow resources on her page.
The entire ceremony - vows, readings, songs and all the other little details tied everything together so nicely to make for a beautiful and very special day.  Stay tuned for future postings on Sarah and Greg's song selection and readings.

Tissue Paper Pompom & Pomander Inspiration

On Monday I looked at how you could make your own tissue paper pomanders for your bridesmaids young or old to hold, here are some photos showing how you can use tissue paper pompoms and pomanders in all sizes and areas of your wedding

Create a backdrop for your ceremony

Hang on the end of chairs or pew ends either side of your aisle; you can then easily transfer them to your reception venue.

Decorate the reception space; hang then all round the space to add colour, highlight a feature of the room such as the windows or cluster them together to create a focal point around your head table

I love the ribbons hanging from these and different colours used for a Mexican inspired rehearsal dinner designed by Lisa Vorce of Oh How Charming! a US wedding planner.

First photo and above by Q Weddings via Style Me Pretty here & here

They look great combined with Chinese lanterns

They look just as fab, whatever the scale; small ones make fun napkin rings and look like mini-hydrangeas

I love tissue paper pompoms, they’re fun and whimsical and great for adding splashes of colour. They can easily be made but if you don’t feel up to it check out Etsy as there are a number of tissue paper pompom sellers there.
