Real Wedding ~ Jessica and Ryan

We love the dusty blue hue of thistle, the Scottish national flower, but it doesn't often appear in bouquets and floral arrangements due to its somewhat prickly nature. That being said, its unusual star-like shape and intriguing appearance have dramatic appeal. We can only assume that Jessica and Ryan chose to incorporate thistle into their florals on purpose with a little nod to the Scottish highlands for their pretty June wedding at the exquisite Old Edwards Inn in Highlands, NC sent to us by 6 of Four.

Jessica's bridesmaids wore form-fitting dresses in indigo tied at the waist with a wide light blue shantung sash and carried gathered bouquets created by Oak Leaf of soft white blooms and thistle, while the groomsmen's fantastic boutonnieres were made from thistle, grayish-blue berries and twine. Candles hung from wrought iron shepherds' hooks lined the walkway to the ceremony and bundles of florals similar to the bridesmaids' bouquets were set in cones made of blue and white toile hung from the ceremony chairs. The outdoor tented reception decor was created in the same palette of soft blue, green, white and cream with tabletop arrangements of indigo hydrangea and bluebells and white lanterns strung from the ceiling. We love the vintage cake toppers displayed in bell jars on the entryway table and the homemade chocolate chip cookies and milk favors.
