Real Wedding ~ Kristen and Latif

What a gorgeous couple!! We couldn't wait to share Kristen and Latif's Charleston, SC wedding at the William Aiken House, photographed by Heather Forsythe and designed by our long time friend Luke Wilson. Kristen wore a beautiful gown fitted to mid-thigh with a criss-cross chiffon overlay tied into a large bow at the back and a full skirt. She added pearl earrings, white blossoms to her hair and a fingertip length veil. In Indian tradition, Kristen and her bridesmaids had Mehndi applied to their hands and feet in beautiful, intricate designs. The bridesmaids wore pale blue cocktail dresses with empire waists and box pleats, while the flower girls wore white dresses with pale blue sashes and floral headbands. Latif and his groomsmen wore classic black tuxedos with pocket squares and bowties, with Latif's in a blue-gray hue. The ceremony and reception were designed in a palette of pale blue, yellow and white with green and deep brown accents to blend seamlessly with the dramatic yellow exterior and colorful interior of the historic venue. The ceremony was held in front of the white colonnade arbor on the lawn where white garden chairs framed the aisle. Ceremony programs by Studio R Design were tucked into powder blue pockets featuring Kristen and Latif's monogram trimmed in chocolate brown. A delicate white chandelier hung from the center of the arbor and Kristen and her bridesmaids carried gathered bouquets of white, periwinkle and butter yellow flowers to match the massive tumbling centerpiece floral arrangement set on a small round table covered in pale blue linen.

The reception utilized every aspect of the 18th century mansion, from the ornate interior hung with heavy drapes to the wraparound porch and slate terrace. Tables set on the veranda were covered in sky blue linens with chocolate chiavari chairs and deep brown napkins. Centerpieces were created in mass groupings of small white bud vases of blue hydrangea and glass cylinders of varied heights with flickering pillar candles. Childhood photos of the bride and groom in silver frames served as table numbers and place cards were made in blue, white and gray, displayed on a large wooden tray lined in a brilliant yellow patterned print. Tables inside the mansion were decorated in similar style, but on a larger scale and with neutral ivory linens to work with the vibrant interior decor. Table arrangements were created in antique silver urns, spaced at intervals with small votives in glass. The wedding cake made by Elaine's Events was displayed at a focal point under a crystal and brass chandelier and brass lanterns were hung from the branches of the property's live oaks on satin ribbon.
