Real Wedding ~ Sarah and Shawn

We love Sarah and Shawn's Wilmington, NC wedding sent to us by our good friends at Millie Holloman Photography. Designed by the talented team at Salt Harbor Designs in a rich palette of wine-colored hues, the event was created with a vintage burlesque feel and lots of details. Sarah wore a strapless lace gown with a mermaid silhouette and carried a bouquet of roses, calla lilies and cymbidium orchids in dark burgundy accented by black feathers. Her bridesmaids wore floor length black gowns with plum pashminas and carried bouquets similar to Sarah's. Shawn and his groomsmen wore classic black tuxedos and boutonnieres made with single burgundy cymbidium orchid. The ceremony was held at Saint Thomas Preservation Hall, a historic landmark in Wilmington, built in 1846. Wreaths of olive branches tied with wine-colored satin ribbon were hung on the chapel doors and the aisle was marked by a burgundy runner. Glass hurricanes on silver pedestals were set on either side of the aisle, providing flickering candlelight, while small bunches of orchids, roses and calla lilies tied with deep red satin ribbon were hung at intervals from the black chivari chairs. Sarah and Shawn exchanged vows in front of a wooden altar set with dozens of candles on mercury glass pedestals or in glass containers. A wrought iron chandelier hung overhead, pillar candles were set above the door in the background and the gothic arch vignettes framing the ceremony were set with tumbling arrangements of olive branches in silver urns.

With just an hour, Salt Harbor Designs flipped the venue for the couple's reception, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere. A long Viking-style table was set for the bridal party, while guests were seated at large round tables. The masses of pillar candles used during the ceremony were transferred to the tables, forming a base for romantic centerpieces of burgundy calla lilies, roses, orchids and olive branches. Black chiavari chairs held black cushions while the tables were covered in burgundy crinkle taffeta linens. Each place setting of white china featured the evening's menu and photo booth tickets, all printed in red. In lieu of a traditional guest book, friends and family wrote notes on parchment and then sealed their envelopes with wax. The dessert table featured a bon bon tower created by South n' France, red velvet cupcakes from Coastal Cupcakes and chocolate covered strawberries from City Club. Don't miss the series of photo booth images complete with a variety of fun props, including mustaches, hats, golf clubs and more!
