"My fiance Ian and I met during the summer of 2006 through our friend Jared (Ian's cousin). We immediately clicked - I remember saying over and over that first summer "I feel like I've known you forever." As we finished up senior year of college, we spent as much time together as possible. Upon graduation, I found a job near Ian so that we could be close. I knew right away that he was the one for me.

The week after my 25th birthday, my dad called me at work to see if Ian and I could drive up to our lake house to help him with a few things after work. He mentioned that he and my mom had brought the boat up to our “camp”, as we call it, but forgot to take the keys out of the boat when they left. I agreed to the trip, even though it was a three hour drive from where we live and only an hour and a half from my sister. By the time we got to camp that night, it was really dark. Ian handed me a flashlight and let me lead the way down to our dock. When we got there, I realized that the boat wasn’t in the water. I was freaked out that the boat had floated away and didn’t notice the rest of the dock. Ian pointed to the end of the dock, where a hand painted sign read “Will You Marry Me?”. I turned around to find Ian down on one knee. We shared a glass of champagne that he had waiting for us, before walking up to the camp.

Ian had me close my eyes and led me into the living room. I opened my eyes to “Then” by Brad Paisley. The room was covered in rose petals, Christmas lights, and pictures of us from the past four years. Cue the tears. Camp is the most important place in the whole world to me. My late grandparents built the camp with their own two hands over fifty years ago. They were truly an inspiration to our family and left us far too early in life. Ian couldn’t have chosen a better place to propose. We will be getting married on June 25, 2011, which would have been my grandparent’s 56th wedding anniversary."

Congratulations katie and thank you so much for sharing your proposal story!
