Real Wedding: Sarah and Greg

It's only fitting that my first "real wedding" featured is - Sarah and Greg - our dear friends who were married in Hood River, OR over Labor Day weekend.  It had rained most of the weekend and on the day of the wedding it threathened rain all day and as we pulled up to the Mt. Hood Bed and Breakfast in the school bus...RAIN.  Sarah had a close eye on the weather - tracking it every five minutes on her phone.

They decided to hold off the ceremony for a few minutes until they got a dry window and while they waited a wonderful surprise - a rainbow.  Who gets a rainbow on their wedding day? What a great memory...

The clouds broke and the sun came out just long enough to get in one of the most beautiful, intimate ceremonies I've ever been witness to.  First, the setting at the Mt. Hood B&B is so lovely - it's a working ranch with Mt. Hood as it's backdrop with orchards, organic vegetable gardens, horse stables, ponds and wildflowers.  An amazing setting for a wedding!  As they walked down the aisle the sunbeams danced through the clouds and tiny rain drops came down making it almost magical.

This picture by Blaine and Bethany captures that moment!

They had a good friend of theirs serve as the officiant, they'd written their own vows (which if I can convince Sarah would be great to feature on the blog) and Greg's brother played the guitar.  So many personal touches which I believe makes a ceremony so special. My favorite was having each guest as they arrived offer a prayer or blessing as they placed river rocks (Sarah and Greg had collected from the Columbia River) around the archway that they would be married under. During the final blessing they asked all guests to gather in a circle around them to seal in the commitment they'd just made while Greg's brother played the guitar and sang Love Gets Sweeter by Finley Quaye and they danced!

Loved her simple and rustic bouquet of sunflowers with a splash of red by adding the chocolate cosmos (which she also wore in her hair)...

This wedding weekend was particulary memorable for me since the day after their wedding we got engaged!  More to come on that in upcoming posts...Thank you to Sarah and Greg for bringing us together out in beautiful Hood River and for sharing your special day with us.
