Emily and Ben's so-pretty DIY wedding was sent to us by Angela Stott Photography, whose work also appears in our gorgeous new Spring 2010 issue! Emily wore a lace keyhole-backed gown, while her bridesmaids wore lovely taupe cocktail dresses, providing the base color for the wedding day palette of taupe, white, lavender and soft pink. Emily and her bridesmaids carried bouquets of gathered white and lavender blooms for the ceremony at the amazing Symmes Chapel, nicknamed "Pretty Place." The stunning outdoor venue required no additional decor, providing spectacular mountain views while Emily and Ben spoke their vows. Emily changed into a gorgeous vintage-look knee-length dress with a lavender sash and a pair of green chuck taylors for the reception, held at her family home in Asheville. Family and friends helped with the decor for the homespun affair, creating arrangements of soft pink spider mums in mason jars and small silver pails. Wreaths of dried lavender were hung in the windows and guests were treated to a variety of Southern drinks, including sweet tea, lemonade and our favorite concoction, the Arnold Palmer, made with equal parts tea and lemonade. Don't miss the sweet display of homemade cakes, cookies and treats alongside framed family photos. We especially love the vintage bride & groom cake topper.
